International Women’s Day (IWD) is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action.

It’s a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide.

Did you know the first IWD gathering was over a century ago in 1911?

It was during this time that women and women’s organisations worked hard to gain the right to vote, broad economic and political equality as well as social transformations.

As a result, IWD has been celebrated ever since and each year it grows from strength to strength. Not surprisingly, IWD marks the call to action for accelerating gender equality.

The campaign theme this year is #EachforEqual. An equal world is an enabled world.

Equality should know no boundaries. Here at Smarter Communities we are fortunate our Company is an ambassador for equal rights.

Equality should be present in the workplace everywhere, and in the boardroom, in government, in health and wealth industries, just to name a few.

As for our talented sportswomen, its time they received the recognition they deserve with equal media coverage. Legends in their own rights.

Together we all can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.
