Help prevent the spread of Coronavirus

Coronavirus continues to be widely reported in the news. As you may know, this new coronavirus is called ‘novel coronavirus 2019’ or ‘2019-nCoV’ and was identified in late 2019 in China during a respiratory illness outbreak in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

“2019年新型冠状病毒”或“ 2019-nCoV”,于2019年底在湖北省武汉市因呼吸道疾病爆发而被发现。

Novel coronavirus causes severe respiratory illness. Symptoms are similar to those of other viruses including fever, flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throats and headaches and, in some cases, difficulty with breathing.

For those living in close proximity, using public transport and whilst out in the public with others, be germ conscious and protect yourself and others by practising good hygiene habits.

How you can help prevent novel coronavirus

Everyone should practise good hygiene etiquette and implement measures to protect against infections every day:

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue while coughing or sneezing, wash your hands after;
  • Put your used tissue in the rubbish bin;
  • Do not rub your eyes after sneezing or coughing;
  • If you don’t have a tissue or handkerchief, cough or sneeze into your elbow or upper sleeve;
  • Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds, cleaning all parts of your hands;
  • Dry hands with disposable paper or use a hand dryer.
